Technical Instructions for Videos

The lectures have been recorded using TechSmith's screen recording software Camtasia Studio. The video is encoded with the TechSmith Screen Capture Codec (TSCC), the audio tracks are encoded using the standard MPEG layer 3 codec.

To view the videos in the AVI format with the usual players under Windows, you have to install the TSCC codec or the EnSharpen video codec. For Macintosh, install the EnSharpen codec. To view the videos under Linux, you can use the MPlayer, which is also available for Windows. Note that you also have to download and install a codec package containing the file tsccvid.dll.
TechSmith also offers the free AVI player Camtasia Player for Windows.

Most videos are also available using the standard DivX video codec, which is already installed for the most players on any operating system.
